I've seen memory issues with JFreeChart before too. I'll discuss it briefly, but I don't have a great answer for you.
The JFreeChart samples I'm showing this time are using the latest version of JFreeChart and I've updated the wrapper code a little. It seems to use less memory, but I don't know if that's from newer code or a newer client (Notes 7) or what. Very hard to tell with Java agents in Notes...
