One of the most common requirements for applications is to expose and aggregate data from existing applications and present it in an easy-to-use and dynamic way. In this presentation, we'll show how to use WebSphere Portlet Factory to quickly create custom components that access a relational database using a service oriented architecture. The portlets will take advantage of the AJAX support in WebSphere Portlet Factory and will include drag and drop, inline editing, and intelligent page refreshing. WebSphere Portlet Factory uses standard AJAX mechanisms and widgets from the Dojo toolkit to provide this functionality and enables the use of this exciting Web 2.0 technology for WebSphere Portal, IBM Lotus Expeditor and IBM Lotus Notes 8.
