In IBM Lotus Domino 8, support for DB2 as a back-end data store is generally available. With the power of a relational database behind the flexibility and ease that Lotus Notes developers have become accustomed to, the Lotus Notes platform becomes even easier to leverage, organize and customize data exactly the way the user wants. This session covers the basics of installation, configuration, troubleshooting and management of enabling DB2 with Lotus Domino, as well as how to think slightly differently about their database design. The value and "best fit" of storing data in DB2 and that of developing new, hybrid DB2-enabled applications will be shown, and a sample application and its development will be demonstrated.
