This session will examine strategies for integrating Lotus Domino applications with relational database management systems (RDMBS). We'll start with an overview of integration techniques, including real-time synchronization using IBM Lotus Domino Enterprise Connection Services (DECS), batch data movement using IBM Lotus Enterprise Integrator (LEI), and programmatic control using LotusScript and the LC LSX or ActiveX Data Objects, as well as the JDBC API in Java agents and servlets. We'll also have a look at how to consume web services from Lotus Domino agents. We'll examine how to choose among different integration techniques and discuss pros and cons of each technique. Then we'll take an in depth look at a concrete example using ActiveX Data Objects (ADO), and look at how LotusScript custom classes can simplify development and enhance application performance. We'll also discuss validating input to preventing SQL injection.
